As the wedding of Duke Theseus and Hippolyta draws near, a group
of Athenians bids to put on a play to entertain the Duke and his entourage. While keen (well, mostly) to do their very best, will
the rude mechanicals pull it off? Will Bottom succeed in playing every part? Will the fearsome Lion scare the ladies? Will Wall keep the lovers apart or will they be reunited in the end? From A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Pyramus and Thisbe is a laugh-out-loud comedy, with ‘merry and tragical’ characters. The play is complemented by recitations of Shakespeare’s sonnets and well-known speeches from Julius Caesar, Twelfth Night and others.
